Hubungan Antara Kepuasan Pernikahan dengan Empty Nest Syndrome pada Dewasa Madya di Kelurahan Tanjung Beringin

Abstract

This study is a quantitative study that aims to test and obtain empirical data regarding the relationship of Marriage Satisfaction with Empty Nest Syndrome in Middle Adults. In line with the theoretical basis, the hypothesis is proposed which states that there is a relationship between marriage satisfaction and Empty Nest Syndrome with the assumption that the higher the Marriage Satisfaction, the lower Empty Nest Syndrome and vice versa, the lower the Marriage Satisfaction the higher Empty Nest Syndrome. Intermediate with the age limit of 46-57 years under the auspices of Pekan Tanjung Beringin Dusun XII as the research subject. Sampling is done using the "Purposive Sampling" technique. This study uses a Likert scale instrument for the scale of Marriage Satisfaction with the scale of Empty Nest Syndrome. Marriage satisfaction scale based on aspects according to Clayton (Ardhanianita & Andayani, 2013) which consists of: husband and wife's social abilities, friendship in marriage, economic affairs, marital strength, relationships with extended families, equality, marriage intimacy, interaction tactics. According to Saltz (2008) Empty Nest Syndrome consists of several characteristic features, namely: difficulty facing change, excessive sadness, fear of roles in today's life, the main rules in daily activities, looking at yourself, the function of marriage being lived. Based on data analysis, the results obtained there are negative results between marital satisfaction and Empty Nest syndrome. This result is proven by the correlation coefficient where R_xy = -0.409 with P = 0.001 <0.05. This means that the higher the marriage satisfaction, the lower the Empty Nest Syndrome in Middle Adults. Based on the results of this study, the hypothesis is "accepted". This shows that the variable of Marriage Satisfaction has an influence of 15.3% on Empty
