Hubungan Dukungan Keluarga dengan Harga diri pada Waria di Kecamatan Bahorok

Abstract

Self-esteem is a positive or negative evaluation of oneself in other words how a person sees himself. Self-esteem according to Coopersmith (in Ghufron & Risnawita, 2016) consists of four aspects namely devotion or courage, leadership or achievement, parent or family, and assertiveness. Family support is also an attitude, action, family acceptance of other family members. The aspect of family support according to House (in Smeth, 1994) consists of four aspects namely emotional support, appreciation support, instrumental support, and informative support. This study aims to determine the relationship of family support and self-esteem in the Bahorok District. The sample of this research is transvestites, amounting to 30 people. Sampling using purposive sampling. Data obtained by family support scale and self-esteem scale are arranged based on aspects of family support with self-esteem. Based on the results of the product moment analysis there is a significant relationship between family support and self-esteem as indicated by the coefficient rxy = 0.805; p = 0,000 <0.01 which means that the higher the family support the higher the selfesteem. Thus means based on the results of this study, the hypothesis in this case is accepted. There is a significant positive relationship between family support and selfesteem with a relationship of 64.7%. From these results it is known that there are still 35.3% other aspects of self-esteem in transvestites. It is known that the subjects of this study were transvestites who had moderate self-esteem and had relatively good family support.
