Abstract: One of the potential of dry land that has not been used optimally and sustainably, with an area of dry land in Indonesia that has the potential for the development of food crops, was estimated at 5.1 million ha spread across various provinces. The potential for upland rice development was on the islands of Sumatra, Kalimantan and Papua. The development of upland rice was one of the answers in increasing rice production, but upland rice productivity in Indonesia was still very low. The development of rubber intercropping technology - food crops can protect farmers from rubber price fluctuations and provide added value. The results of the analysis show that intercropping of the JG rubber system with upland rice, was feasible to be developed with a Marginal Benefit Cost Ratio (MBCR) of 1.98. Observations were carried out directly in the planting of 30 red rice clumps with 15 samples made by the "U" form method with intervals once a week starting the age of the plant two weeks after planting. Some of the limiting factors for brown rice production include cultivation methods and pest attacks. To reduce pest attacks, some control techniques have been applied including controlling using well traps, swing nets and aspirators. based on observations there are 9 species of pests, namely Scirpophaga innotata (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), Nilaparvata lugens (Homoptera: Delphacidae), Rattus argentiventer (Rodentia: Muridae), Pomacea caniculata (Megastropoda: Ampullariidae), Leptocorisa acuta (Hemiptera: Alydidae), Coccinella septempunctata (Coleoptera: Coccinelidae), Nezara viridula (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae), Scotinophora coarctata (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae), Spodoptera litura Lepidoptera: nouctidae).
