Hubungan Kekuatan Karakter dengan Kebahagiaan pada Remaja Kelas XII di SMA Negeri 15 Takengon

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between character strength with happiness in adolescents at SMA Negeri 15 Takengon. Assuming the higher character strength will be followed by positive happiness in adolescents. And vice versa the lower the character strength, the more negative the happiness in adolescents. The subjects of the study were the early adolescents who sat in class XII totaling 50 people. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. The measuring instrument used is the Likert scale on character strength consisting of 60 items and the Likert scale on happiness consisting of 40 items. Data analysis using product moment technique. Based on data analysis, it was found that the hypothesis proposed in this study was accepted, namely there is a positive relationship between character strength with happiness. This means that the higher character strength, the more positive the happiness of adolescents. This is evidenced by the calculation results of the Product Moment r analysis with the coefficient value rxy = 0.750 and the determinant coefficient (r2) = 0.562 with p = 0.000 means p < 0.005. The determinant coefficient (r2) = 0.562 shows that happiness is formed by the strength of character by 56.2 %. Furthermore, the other results obtained from this study were classified as high character strength with an average empirical value of 121.84 and happiness classified as high with an average empirical value of 90.06. From the results of this study, the hypothesis was stated otherwise accepted.
