Abstract: This study aims to find out the relationship between body image and self-confidence of female teenagers at Private High School Harapan 1 Medan. The approach in this research is quantitative correlational. The subjects of this study are the students of grade XII at private high school Harapan 1 Medan with the sample of the research is 38 female students whose weight of bodies are more than ideal weight based on the formulation of ideal weight and taken sample by purposive sampling. Data analysis method through Product Moment. This research uses body image scale and self confidence scale. Data collection uses a Likert scale for body image and self confidence. The hypothesis of this study is there is relation of body image and self confidence in female teenager students of Private High School Harapan 1 Medan, assuming that adolescents who have a positive body image will have high self-confidence in girls at Private High School Harapan 1 Medan. Based on the results of data analysis, through the calculation of the Product Moment r correlation analysis the coefficient value rxy = 0.465 and the determinant coefficient (r2) = 0.216 with p = 0.000. This shows that body image is related to self-confidence in young women with a contribution of 21.6 %. Furthermore, seen from the calculation of hypothetical mean = 72.5 and empirical mean = 92.29 and standard deviation = 10.672 it is known that body image in the high category as well as confidence from the calculation of hypothetical mean = 70 and empirical mean = 87.18 and standard deviation = 12,696 it is known that confidence in the high category. Thus the hypothesis is accepted.
