Hubungan Antara Pola Asuh Demokratis Orangtua Dengan Kematangan Emosi Pada Mahasiswa Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Medan Area

Abstract

This research is a quantitative study conducted by researchers with the aim to determine the relationship between democratic parenting and emotional maturity in students of the Faculty of Psychology, University of Medan Area. The hypothesis proposed is that there is a relationship between democratic parenting and emotional maturity in students. The population in the study were all students of the 2016 Faculty of Psychology, University of Medan Area, on Campus 1, amounting to 216 people. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, the number of samples in this study were 87 students. Data collection techniques use the scale of democratic parenting and emotional maturity scale. Data analysis techniques in this study used product moment analysis. Based on the results of the analysis it was found that there was a relationship between democratic parenting with emotional maturity with a correlation coefficient of 0.550 with p = 0.000 (p = <0.05), which means the hypothesis was accepted, namely there was a relationship between democratic parenting and emotional maturity. Democratic parenting contributed greatly to emotional maturity by 30.1% while the remaining 69.9% was determined by other factors not examined in this study.
