Hubungan Harga Diri dengan Kepercayaan Diri Orang Tua yang Memiliki Anak Tunarungu di SLB Melati Aisyiyah Deli Serdang

Abstract

This study aims to find the relationship between self-esteem and self confidence of parents who have deaf children in SLB Melati Aisyiyah Deli Serdang. Selfconfidence were doubtless attitude and be certain about their success and not giving up in facing the life of hearing-impaired child caretaker. Self-esteem is a valuation or evaluation about one self in a positive or negative way that were concluded by the interactions with other people. The sample of this research was 50 parents which were moms who have hearing-impaired child, collected by using total sampling technique. The data was obtained using two scales, was the selfesteem scale and the self-confidence scale which was arranged based on the aspect of self-esteem (Coopersmith in Susanto) and the aspect of self-confidence (Walgito in Supriantik, et al). The data was analyzed using Pearson Product Moment version 22.0 for windows. Based on the Pearson Product Moment analysis of self-esteem and self confidence, it obtained rxy = 0,9 with P = 0,000 < 0,300 which means the hypothesis of this research was accepted, there’s a relationship between self-esteem and self confidence of hearing-impaired child’s parents. The contribution of variable self esteem to self confidence was 0,962 or 96,2%, it means that self-esteem can affect the self confidence of parents who have hearing-impaired child.
