Abstract: As School administration executor, the Principal has responsibilities in several fields, academic fields, staffing, student affairs, community relations fields. But the fact is that the competencies of the Teachers in Langkat Regency have not been so good and still need to be improved. This is where the Principal plays an important role in improving Teacher competency. Based on this background, the formulation of the problem is (1) What is the leadership role of the Principal in improving Teacher competency in Stabat District, Langkat Regency. (2) Factors that become obstacles in the leadership role of the Principal in improving Teacher competency in Stabat District, LangkatRegency. The research objective was to analyze (1) the leadership role of the Principal in improving teacher competency in Stabat District, Langkat Regency. (2) Obstacles to the leadership role of the Principal in improving Teacher competence in Stabat District, Langkat Regency. The research method used was descriptive with qualitative analysis. Data collection was obtained from interviews, documentation, and observations. The results of the study are (1) Principal Leadership in Stabat District can establish cooperation, establish communication, build enthusiasm, resolve conflicts to create positive relationships, pay attention to the welfare of teachers. (2) In terms of developing the curriculum, developing the potential of students and assessing and evaluating it still needs to improve their abilities. (3) The leadership role of the school principal in improving teacher competence has been carried out by providing guidance if there are constraints to teaching for teachers, regulating school finance for school needs. While the suggestions from this study are (1) The principals strategy in improving teacher competence is carried out by the principal through fostering skills training for teachers, giving motivation and fostering educational staff discipline. (2) The principal is expected to further improve the competence of teachers in the teaching and learning process in schools, by providing the latest innovations. 3) Through the program to improve the quality of teacher performance, especially for teacher certification programs, teachers are expected to be able to improve the mastery of competencies.
Description: Sebagai pelaksana administrasi Sekolah, Kepala Sekolah memiliki tanggung jawab dalam beberapa bidang, bidang akademik, bidang kepegawaian, bidang kesiswaan, bidang hubungan kemasyarakatan. Namun faktanya kompetensi Guru - Guru di Kabupaten Langkat belum begitu baik dan masih perlu ditingkatkan. Disinilah Kepala Sekolah memegang peranan penting dalam meningkatkan kompetensi Guru. Berdasar kan latar belakang tersebut maka rumusan masalah adalah (1) Bagaimana peran kepemimpinan Kepala Sekolah dalam meningkatkan kompetensi Guru di Kecamatan Stabat Kabupaten Langkat.(2) Faktor yang menjadi hambatan dalam peran kepemimpinan Kepala Sekolah dalam meningkatkan kompetensi Guru di Kecamatan Stabat Kabupaten Langkat. Tujuan penelitian untuk menganalisis (1) Peran kepemimpinan Kepala Sekolah dalam meningkatkan kompetensi Guru di Kecamatan Stabat Kabupaten Langkat.(2) Hambatan peran kepemimpinan Kepala Sekolah dalam meningkatkan kompetensi Guru di Kecamatan Stabat Kabupaten Langkat. Metode Penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif dengan analisis kualitatif. Pengumpulan data di peroleh dari wawancara, dokumentasi, dan observasi. Hasil penelitian adalah (1) Kepemimpinan Kepala Sekolah di Kecamatan Stabat dapat menjalin kerjasama, menjalin komunikasi, membangun semangat, menyelesaikan konflik menciptakan hubungan positif, memperhatikan kesejahteraan guru. (2) Dalam hal mengembangkan kurikulum, mengembangkan potensi peserta didik dan menilai serta mengevaluasi masih perlu meningkatkan kemampuannya.(3) Peran kepemimpinan kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan kompetensi guru telah terlaksana dengan cara memberikan bimbingan bila ada kendala mengajar bagi para guru, mengatur keuangan sekolah untuk keperluan sekolah. Sedangkan saran dari penelitian ini adalah (1) Strategi kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan kompetensi guru dilakukan oleh kepala sekolah melalui pembinaan pelatihan-pelatihan keterampilan terhadap guru-guru, pemberian motivasi dan pembinaan disiplin tenaga kependidikan. (2) Kepala sekolah diharapkan untuk lebih meningkatkan kompetensi guru dalam proses belajar mengajar di sekolah, dengan memberikan inovasi-inovasi terbaru.(3) Melalui program peningkatan kualitas kinerja guru tersebut terutama terhadap program sertifikasi guru, guru diharapkan mampu meningkatkan terhadap penguasaan kompetensi.
