Hubungan Dukungan Sosial Dengan Kualitas Hidup Pada Lansia Di Dusun II, Desa Sei Alim Ulu, Kec. Air Batu Asahan

Abstract

This research is a quantitative study that aims to test and obtain empirical data regarding Correlation Social Support and Life Quality. In line with the theoretical foundation, a hypothesis is proposed that says there is a positive relationship between social support and life quality in the elderly. Where the higher the social support, the higher the life quality. Conversely, the lower the social support, the lower the life quality. This study involved 47 elderly people in Dusun II, Sei Alim Ulu Village, Kec. Air Batu, Asahan as a research subject. Sampling is done by total sampling technique. This study uses the Guttman scale instrument to scale social support with quality of life. The scale of social support is based on aspects of social support according to House (in Fadhilah, 2016), namely: (1) Emotional Support, (2) Award Support, (3) Instrumental Support, and (4) Information Support. Quality of life scale is arranged based on aspects of quality of life according to WHO (1996) quality of life is measured by 4 aspects, namely: (1) Physical health, (2) Psychological, (3) Social relations, and (4) Environment. Based on data analysis, the results show there is a positive relationship between social support and quality of life. This result is proven by the correlation coefficient, where rxy = 0.382; p = 0,001 <0.05. The coefficient of determination (R square) research with a value of 0.146. It can be interpreted that the social support variable affects the quality of life by 14,6%, while the remaining 85,4% is caused by other factors not revealed in this study, such as sociodemographic characteristics, stress and coping abilities.
