Mobilitas Sosial Masyarakat Nelayan di Desa Pantai Cermin (Studi Kasus : Desa Pantai Cermin Kanan, Kecamatan Pantai Cermin, Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai)

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the social mobility that occurs in fishing communities in Pantai Cermin Kanan Village, Pantai Cermin District, Kab. Serdang Bedagai. The sampling method is used intentionally (purposive). The sample in this study was the fishing community in Pantai Cermin Kanan village and the number of samples taken were 16 fishermen where 9 people were fishing laborers and 7 private boat fishermen. Data collected are primary and secondary data. The analytical method used is a descriptive qualitative approach. Based on the results of the study note that the age of the sample of fisherman laborers has the largest number of percentages is 66.6%, the age of the sample of private boat fishermen having the largest percentage is 57.14%. The average education of fishermen and private boat fishermen is 44% with elementary education, the average fishing laborer's income is> Rp. 1,500,000 or 55.5%, while private boat fishermen income> Rp. 1,500,000 or 85.80%. The average number of children of fishing laborers is 2-3 children with a percentage of 77.78%. While the number of children of private boat fishermen is 3-4 children with a percentage of 57.14%. The results showed that social mobility. The mobility that occurred in the work of fishing fishermen increased sharply in children's education which initially only 38% increased to 63% or there was a significant increase of 25% while in private boat fishermen there was an increase in the level of income which initially only in the range 1,500,000, - increased to 3,500,000-4,000,000 which can be concluded that after social mobility in terms of work, wealth, income, and education improved from the start of work.
