Abstract: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan body image ditinjau dari jenis kelamin pada dewasa awal di Kota Medan. perbedaan body image yang di tinjau dari jenis kelamin pada dewasa awal di Kota Medan, dengan asumsi laki – laki cenderung memiliki body image yang positif dibandingkan perempuan. Begitu pula perempuan memiliki Body Image yang negative dibandingkan laki – laki. Sampel 66 orang yaitu perempuan 33 orang dan laki – laki 33 orang, dengan nilai hipotetik 130 dan nilai empirik body image pada laki – laki dinyatakan positif dengan nilai 153,42, dan body image pada perempuan dinyatakan sedang cenderung positif dengan nilai 145,24. Pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan metode skala Likert untuk body image yang di susun berdasarkan aspek body image dari teori Cash (2005). Adapun aspek body image yaitu Appearance Evaluation (evaluasi penampilan), Appearance Orientation (orientasi penampilan), Body Areas Satisfaction (kepuasaan terhadap bagian tubuh), Overweight Preoccupation (kecemasan untuk menjadi gemuk), Self Classified Weight (pengkategorian tubuh). Untuk menguji hipotesis yang diajukan dilakukan dengan menggunakan Teknik Analisa Uji T-Test. Terdapat perbedaan body image yang signifikan ditinjau dari jenis kelamin pada dewasa awal, dimana nilai t = 2,299; p = 0.025 < 0,05. Berdasarkan hasil ini, artinya hipotesis yang berbunyi ada perbedaan body image yang di tinjau dari jenis kelamin pada dewasa awal di Kota Medan, dengan asumsi laki – laki cenderung memiliki body image yang positif dibandingkan perempuan, dinyatakan diterima. This study aims to determine differences in body image in terms of gender in early adulthood in Medan City. Differences in body image in terms of gender in early adulthood in Medan City, with the assumption that men tend to have a positive body image than women. Likewise, women have a negative Body Image compared to men. A sample of 66 people, namely 33 women and 33 men, with a hypothetical value of 130 and an empirical value of body image in men tested positive with a value of 13.205, and body image in women was stated to be moderate tending to positive with a value of 15.613. Collecting data in this study using the Likert scale method for body image which is arranged based on the body image aspects of the theory of Cash (2005). The aspects of body image are Appearance Evaluation, Appearance Orientation, Body Areas Satisfaction (satisfaction with body parts), Overweight Preoccupation (anxiety to be fat), Self Classified Weight (body categorization). To test the proposed hypothesis, it is done using the T-Test Analysis Technique. There is a significant difference in body image in terms of gender in early adulthood, where the value of t = 2,299; p = 0.025 <0.05. Based on these results, it means that the hypothesis that there is a difference in body image in terms of gender in early adulthood in Medan City, with the assumption that men tend to have a positive body image compared to women, is accepted. |
