Abstract: Indonesia dikenal sebagai negara yang memiliki kekayaan alam yang berlimpah, baik kekayaan hayati maupun non hayati. Namun seiring berkembangnya zaman Indonesia justru menjadi negara penghasil limbah kedua di dunia, hal ini disebabkan karena semakin bertambahnya limbah yang dihasilkan dari aktivitas masyarakat sehingga berdampak pada rusaknya lingkungan serta ekosistem yang ada. Salah satu dari jenis limbah yang sangat besar dihasilkan adalah sampah plastik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut: untuk mendesain/merancang bentuk geometris cetakan pembuatan bata plastik, untuk mengetahui kekuatan cetakan bata plastik, dan ntuk mengetahui proses produksi cetakan bata plastik.Kegiatan penelitian ini dilaksanakan di laboratorium Universitas Medan Area. Adapun waktu pelaksanaan kegiatan penelitian pada tanggal 2 juni 2019. Perlengkapan alat dan bahan untuk merancang alat pencetak bata dari serat limbah plastik sebagai berikut: UNP65, Plat baja 6mm, bearing, baut dan mur, pipa baja 1,5 inchi, elektroda, penggaris, palu, kuas, alat pelindung, mesin bor, mesin gerinda, las listrik, ragum, dan mesin bubut. Prosedur perancangan dimulai dari: perancangan desain, persiapan alat dan bahan, proses pemotongan, proses penyambungan, uji alat, dan finishing. Dalam perancangan alat pencetak bata dari serat limbah plastik dapat di ambil kesimpulan dari parameter yang di hitung sebagai berikut. Gaya yang dihasilkan tanpa campuran material bata sebesar = 6,11 N, gaya yang dihasilkan sudah tercampur material bata sebesar 15,60 N, volume bata = 2016 cm3, kebutuhan semen = 0,4032 kg, kebutuhan pasir = 1,6128 kg, waktu pemotongan pada plat 6mm = 10 menit, waktu pemotongan pada UNP 65 = 6,34 menit, waktu yang dibutuhkan untuk pengeboran = 7,03 menit, gaya awal baut = 39760 N, beban aksial pada baut = 29435,40 N/m2, kekuatan tarik untuk las fillet tunggal = 14,97 N/m2. Indonesia is known as a country that has abundant natural resources, both biological and non-living. However, as the era of Indonesia developed, it became the second waste-producing country in the world, this was due to the increasing amount of waste generated from community activities that had an impact on the damage to the environment and existing ecosystems. One of the very large types of waste generated is plastic waste. The objectives of this study are as follows: to design / design geometric shapes of plastic brick making molds, to determine the strength of plastic brick molds, and to determine the production process of plastic brick molds. This research activity was carried out in the Laboratory of the University of Medan Area. The time for carrying out research activities is on June 2, 2019. Equipment and materials for designing brick molding tools from plastic waste fibers are as follows: UNP65, 6mm steel plate, bearings, bolts and nuts, 1.5 inch steel pipes, electrodes, rulers, hammers, brushes, protective gear, drilling machines, grinding machines, electric welding, vise, and lathes. The design procedure starts from: design design, preparation of tools and materials, cutting process, joining process, testing tools, and finishing. In designing a brick molding tool from plastic waste fibers, conclusions can be drawn from the calculated parameters as follows. The force produced without a mixture of brick material is = 6.11 N, the force produced is mixed with brick material of 15.60 N, brick volume = 2016 cm3, cement needs = 0.4032 kg, sand needs = 1.6128 kg, time cutting on 6mm plate = 10 minutes, cutting time at UNP 65 = 6.34 minutes, time required for drilling = 7.03 minutes, bolt initial force = 39760 N, axial load on bolts = 29435.40 N / m2, strength tensile for single fillet weld = 14.97 N / m2.
