Watercress (Nasturtium officinale) is a herbaceous plant that belong to the Brassicaceae Family. This plant contains alkaloid compounds, flavonoids, steroids, tannins and antioxidants that can inhibit the growth of bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This plant has traditionally been used by the public to treat diseases such as tuberculosis, antidiabetic, and teat skin irritation disorders. This study aims to deternine the ability of the antibacterial activity of watercress leaf extract (Nasturtium officinale) in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and determining the minimum inhibitory concentration of MIC (Minimum inhibitory concentration). This study used CDR (Completely Randomized Design) extract concentrations used were 0, 60, 75, 100 with minimum inhibitory concentrations of MIC 90, 95, and 98 with 3 repetitions. Watercress leaf extract has antibacterial activity at a concentration of 100% with an inhibition zone diameter of 14,12 mm, whereas in the MIC (Minimum inhibitory concentration) test used with a concentration of 90% it has antibacterial activity with an inhibition zone diameter of 9,85 mm, at a concentration of 95% it has antibacterial activity with an inhibition zone diameter of 11,30 mm, at a concentration of 98% it has antibacterial activity with an inhibition zone diameter of 11,90 mm. The results showed that the plant extract had antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus.en_US
