Abstract: Penelitian ini berjudul Komunikasi Interpersonal Anak Broken Home Akibat Pernikahan Ulang Dalam Keluarga (Studi Deskriptif Kualitatif Pada Anak Broken Home di Kelurahan Mangga Kecamatan Medan Tuntungan). This research is entitled Interpersonal Communication of Broken Home Children Due to Remarriage in the Family (Qualitative Descriptive Study on Broken Home Children in Mangga Village, Medan Tuntungan District). This study aims to determine the interpersonal communication that occurs between broken home children and their step parents and to determine the inhibiting factors of interpersonal communication between broken home children and their step parents in the family. The theory used in this study is the Symbolic Interaction Theory, through the importance of meaning, self-concept, and relationships with the community which then from the results of the research will show effective communication through openness, empathy, supportive attitude, positive attitude and equality between broken home children with step parents. The method used is a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques through direct interviews with 3 (three) broken home families who remarried in Mangga Village, Medan Tuntungan District. The results of this study indicate that interpersonal communication between broken home children and their step parents in general has not run smoothly verbally or non-verbally. There is no mutual openness between family members and there are still negative feelings and thoughts from children who are victims of a broken home towards their stepparents. Broken home children still cannot fully accept the presence of their stepparents even though the stepparents have shown a caring attitude. Barriers experienced by broken home children include psychological and status barriers, the time factor is also one of the barriers between broken home children and their step parents in communicating because they rarely meet because of their respective activities.
