Abstract: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran coping stress pada ibu yang memiliki anak tunagrahita. Coping stress adalah strategi untuk memanajemen tingkah laku kepada pemecahan masalah yang paling sederhana dan realitas, berfungsi untuk membebaskan diri dari masalah yang nyata maupun tidak nyata. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Yayasan Pembinaan Anak Cacat Medan. Pendekatan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengambilan data menggunakan teknik total sampling. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan model skala likert melalui skala coping stress. Sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 61 orang ibu yang memiliki anak tunagrahita. Dalam penelitian ini mengunakan dua analisis data yaitu korelasi pearson product moment untuk uji validitas data, dan f persen untuk analisis hasil. Reliabilitas menggunakan teknik koefisien alpha conbrach. Reliabilitas item sebesar 0,833. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian maka diperoleh rangkuman nilai rata-rata jenis coping stress pada subjek penelitian yaitu emotion focused coping sebesar 38%, dan jenis problem focused coping sebesar 62%. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan analisis deskriptif coping stress diperoleh nilai rata-rata aspek problem focused coping lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan nilai rata-rata aspek emotion focused coping. Dari aspek emotion focused coping yang lebih dominan digunakan adalah aspek self control dengan nilai rata-rata 5,49 atau 8%. Dari aspek problem focused coping yang lebih dominan digunakan adalah aspek confrontive coping yaitu 17,52 atau 27%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulan bahwa gambaran coping stress Ibu yang memiliki anak tunagrahita di Yayasan Pembinaan Anak Cacat Medan dominan problem focused coping dibandingkan emotion focused coping. This research aims to find out the picture of coping stress in mothers who have children with tunagrahita. Coping stress is a strategy to management behavior to solve the simplest problems and realities, serving to free yourself from real or unreal problems. This research was conducted at the Field Disability Development Foundation Medan. The approach in this study uses descriptive quantitative methods. Data retrieval technique using total sampling technique. The data collection method uses a likert scale model through the scale of coping stress. The sample in this study was 61 mothers who had children with tunagrahita. In this study used two data analysis, namely pearson product moment correlation for data validity test, and f percent for analysis of results. Reliability uses alpha conbrach coefficient techniques. Item reliability is 0.833. Based on the results of the study, a summary of the average value of coping stress in the research subject is emotion focused coping at 38%, and the type of problem focused coping by 62%. Based on the calculation of descriptive analysis of coping stress obtained the average value of problem focused coping aspect is higher than the average value of emotion focused coping aspect. From the emotion focused coping aspect that is more dominant used is the self control aspect with an average value of 5.49 or 8%. From the problem focused coping aspect that is more dominant used is the confrontive coping aspect which is 17.52 or 27%. Based on the results of the study can be concluded that the picture of coping stress Of mothers who have deaf children in The Field Disability Development Foundation is dominant problem focused coping compared to emotion focused coping.
