dc.description.abstractThis research aims to determine the relationship between authoritarian leadership style and work stress of the nurses at Sari Mutiara Lubuk Pakam hospital. The research sample was taken using purposive sampling. The work stress scale is prepared based on the aspects of work stress as stased by Robbins and Judge. The leadership scale is arranged based on the proposed by Mar'at. The date were analyzed using the product moment test. The analysis shows that there is a relation between job stress and authoritarian leadership at Sari Mutiara Lubuk Pakam hospital (rxy =-0,639 with P = 0,000 < 0,050. It means that there is a positive relation between authoritarian leadership style and work stress in the Sari Mutiara Lubuk Pakam hospital acceptable. The result showed that authoritarian leadership contributed to work stress much as 40,9%. Authoritarian leadership received by the sample is know to be classified as high (hypothetical mean 82,5 > empirical maen 97,95 and the difference SD 8,159. Classified as high work stress hypothetical mean 70 < hypothetical mean 85,00 and the difference SD 8,122).en_US
