dc.description.abstract | Pemanfaatan limbah dalam perkembangan ilmu dan teknologi pada era saat ini mulai berkembang. Limbah serat sebagai limbah organik dapat dijadikan bahan pembuatan komposit, mengingat negara indosesia memiliki banyak tumbuhan yang dapat menghasilkan serat salah satunya serat kelapa. Pemanfaatan serat kelapa menjadi daya tarik peneliti untuk mengetahui sifat mekanik serat buah kelapa diantaranya nilai kekuatan tarik, regangan dan modulus elastisitas. Penelitian ini menggunakan variabel serat 0 serat/ tanpa serat, 5 serat dan 11 serat kelapa selanjutnya perbandingan antara matriks dan katalisnya yaitu 10 : 1 ml. Pada penelitian ini bahan yang digunakan dalam pembuatan material komposit yaitu resin jenis polyester dengan katalis dan bahan penguatnya serat kelapa. Komposit yang akan dibuat menggunakan standart ASTM D 3039M-14 dengan ukuran spesimen 175 mm x 25 mm x 2 mm. Cetakan komposit dibuat dari bahan kaca dan dibentuk sesuai ukuran menggunakan double tape foam hijau. Tempat pengujian tarik ini dilaksanakan di Impact and Fracture Research Centre Universitas Sumatra Utara. Berdasarkan analisa yang telah dilakukan pada hasil pengujian tarik, maka nilai rata-rata tegangan tarik tertinggi terdapat pada variabel 5 serat kelapa dengan nilai 44,07 MPa. Sedangkan nilai rata-rata kekuatan luluh terdapat pada variabel 5 serat dengan nilai 26,46 MPa ,nilai rata-rata modulus elastisitas terbesar terdapat pada variabel 0 serat sebesar 1360,6 MPa. Setelah melakukan pengujian terhadap benda uji/spesimen dan memperoleh data-data, maka material komposit berserat sabut kelapa memiliki peluang untuk dapat diaplikasikan pada pembuatan spakbor sepeda motor. Waste utilization in the development of science and technology in this era is now beginning to flourish. Fiber waste as organic waste can be made into composite materials, that indonesia has many plants that can produce fiber, one of which is coconut fiber. The use of coconut fiber becomes the attraction of researchers to know the mechanical nature of coconut fiber among which the value of pull force, stranglehold and elasticity modulus. By using a variable of 0 fibers/ without fibers, 5 fibers and 11 coconut fibers and comparing the matrix to the catalyst is 100:1. In this study, the material used in the manufacture of composite materials is a polyester type resin with a catalyst and the reinforcing material is coconut fiber. The composite will be made using the ASTM D 3039M-14 standard with a specimen size of 175 mm x 25 mm x 2 mm. Composite molds are made of glass and shaped to size using green double-sided foam tape. This tensile testing site was carried out at the Impact and Fracture Research Center, University of North Sumatra. Based on the analysis that has been carried out on the tensile test results, the highest average tensile stress value is found in variable 5 coconut fiber with a value of 44.07 MPa. While the average value of yield strength is found in the 5 fiber variable with a value of 26.46 MPa, the largest average value of the elastic modulus is found in the 0 fiber variable of 1360.6 MPa. After testing the test object/specimen and obtaining the data, the coconut coir fibrous composite material has the opportunity to be applied to the manufacture of motorcycle fenders. | en_US |
