Hubungan Antara Empati dengan Perilaku Prososial pada Mahasiswa Psikologi Angkatan 2018 di Universitas Medan Area

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara empati dengan perilaku prososial pada mahasiswa Psikologi angkatan 2018 di Universitas Medan Area. Hipotesis yang diajukan adalah hubungan positif antara empati dengan perilaku prososial. Subjek penelitian ini berjumlah 79 mahasiswa psikologi angkatan 2018 di universitas medan area dengan menggunakan tehnik pengambilan sampel simple random sampling. Metode yang digunakan di dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif. Bentuk skala dalam penelitian ini adalah skala likert. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan skala empati dengan perilaku prososial. Dengan koefisien reliabilitas empati rumus Alpha Cronbach 0,852 dan koefisien reliabilitas perilaku prososial dengan rumus Alpha Cronbach 0,864. Analisis data yang digunakan di dalam penelitian adalah tehnik product moment. Berdasarkan analisis, hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan hubungan positif yang signifikan antara empati dengan perilaku prososial pada mahasiswa Psikologi angkatan 2018 di Universitas Medan Area. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan korelasi rxy = 0,724 dengan p = 0,109 sedangkan koefisien determinan (r2) sebesar 0,524. Dengan demikian hipotesis yang diajukan diterima. Selanjutnya diketahui kontribusi empati dengan perilaku prososial adalah sebesar 52,4% sedangkan sisanya 47,6% dipengaruhi oleh faktor lainnya. Diketahui empati tergolong rendah dimana empirik 47,68 < mean hipotetik 65 dan selisihnya melebihi SD = 9,172. Dan perilaku prososial tergolong rendah dimana mean empirik 62,46 < mean hipotetik 85 dimana selisihnya lebih dari SD 10,011. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between empathy and prosocial behavior in Psychology students class 2018 at the University of Medan Area. The proposed hypothesis is a positive relationship between empathy and prosocial behavior. The subjects of this study were 79 psychology students class 2018 at the Medan Area University using a simple random sampling technique. The method used in this research is a quantitative method. The form of the scale in this study is the Likert scale. Data was collected using a scale of empathy with prosocial behavior. With the reliability coefficient of empathy Cronbach's Alpha formula 0.852 and the reliability coefficient of prosocial behavior with Cronbach's Alpha formula 0.864. The data analysis used in this research is the product moment technique. Based on the analysis, the results of this study indicate a significant positive relationship between empathy and prosocial behavior in Psychology students class 2018 at the University of Medan Area. This is evidenced by the correlation rxy = 0.724 with p = 0.109 while the determinant coefficient (r2) is 0.524. Thus the proposed hypothesis is accepted. Furthermore, it is known that the contribution of empathy to prosocial behavior is 52.4% while the remaining 47.6% is influenced by other factors. It is known that empathy is low where empirical 47.68 < hypothetical mean 65 and the difference exceeds SD = 9.172. And prosocial behavior is low where the empirical mean is 62.46 < hypothetical mean 85 where the difference is more than SD 10.011.
