This study aims to determine the relationship between self-esteem and social loafing in KMKP members at the Faculty of Psychology, University of Medan Area. The hypothesis proposed is that there is a negative relationship between self-esteem and social loafing in KMKP members, where the higher self-esteem, the lower social loafing in KMKP members. Conversely, the lower the self-esteem, the higher the social loafing in KMKP members. This research method uses a comparative quantitative approach. The sample in this study found 40 people, the sampling technique in this study was purposive sampling. The data in this study were collected using a self-esteem scale measured by 4 aspects of self-esteem is power, significance, virtue, and ability and a social loafing scale measured using 5 aspects of social loafing is decreased motivation to engage in group activities, passive, responsibility, decreased awareness of evaluation, free rider. The data analysis technique used the product moment correlation test analysis technique. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship between self-esteem and social loafing in KMKP members (rxy = -0.527 with significant p <0.05). The proposed hypothesis is accepted. Furthermore, it is known that the contribution of self-esteem to social loafing is 27.8% (r2 = 0.278). It is also known that self-esteem is low (empirical mean = 61.82 < hypothetical mean 90) and social loafing is high (empirical mean = 79.20 > hypothetical mean 65).
