Abstract: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara dukungan sosial dengan harga diri remaja SMAN 7 Medan. Populasi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Remaja siswa SMAN 7 Medan dengan rentang usia dari 14- 18 tahun. Sampel penelitian dipilih menggunakan teknik simple random sampling dan diketahui berjumlah 58 orang. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan skala dukungan sosial yang disusun berdasarkan aspek-aspek dukungan sosial menurut teori Canava dan Dolan (dalam Tarmidi dan Rambe, 2011) dan skala harga diri yang disusun berdasarkan teori Coopersmith (dalam Sulistyo, 2011). Data penelitian dianalisis menggunakan uji korelasi Pearson Product Moment. Hasil analisa data menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan positif yang signifikan antara dukungan sosial dengan harga diri (rxy= 0,683 dengan p < 0,000). Hal ini menunjukkan semakin tinggi dukungan sosial, maka semakin tinggi pula harga diri. Sebaliknya, semakin rendah dukungan sosial, maka semakin rendah pula harga diri. Kontribusi ddukungan sosial terhadap harga diri diketahui sebesar 46,7% (R2= 0,467). Sedangkan sisanya (53,3%) dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain yang tidak dijelaskan dalam penelitian. Hasil perhitungan Mean Hipotetik Harga Diri remaja SMAN 7 sebesar 80 dan Mean Empirik 98,35 yang berada dalam kategori tinggi dan perhitungan Mean Hipotetik Dukungan sosial sebesar 95 dan Mean Empirik 119,45 yang berada dalam kategori diketahui Tinggi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut maka hipotesis penelitian dinyatakan diterima. This study aims to determine the relationship between social support and adolescent self-esteem at SMAN 7 Medan. The population used in this study were adolescent students of SMAN 7 Medan with an age range of 14-18 years. The research sample was selected using a simple random sampling technique and is known to be 58 people. Data were collected using a social support scale which was compiled based on aspects of social support according to Canava and Dolan's theory (in Tarmidi and Rambe, 2011) and a self-esteem scale which was based on Coopersmith's theory (in Sulistyo, 2011). The research data were analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test. The results of data analysis showed that there was a significant positive relationship between social support and self-esteem (rxy= 0.683 with p < 0.000). This shows that the higher the social support, the higher the self-esteem. Conversely, the lower the social support, the lower the self-esteem. The contribution of social support to selfesteem is known to be 46.7% (R2 = 0.467). While the rest (53.3%) is influenced by other factors that are not explained in the study. The results of the calculation of the Hypothetical Mean of Self-Esteem of SMAN 7 adolescents of 80 and the Empirical Mean of 98.35 which are in the high category and the calculation of the Hypothetical Mean of Social Support of 95 and the Empirical Mean of 119.45 which are in the known high category.
