Hubungan antara Dukungan Orang Tua dengan Optimisme pada Mahasiswa yang Sedang Mengerjakan Skripsi di Universitas Medan Area

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat hubungan antara dukungan orang tua dengan optimisme pada mahasiswa psikologi yang sedang mengerjakan skripsi Universitas Medan Area. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional, populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh mahasiswa Psikologi stambuk 2017 di Universitas Medan Area. Adapun sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 72 orang mahasiswa. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan Skala Likert, skala dukungan orang tua dan skala optimism. Teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik Korelasi Product Moment. Hipotesis yang diajukan dalam penelitian ini yaitu adanya hubungan positif antara dukungan orang tua dengan optimisme, dengan asumsi semakin tinggi dukungan orang tua maka semakin tinggi optimisme begitu pula sebaliknya, semakin rendah dukungan orang tua maka semakin rendah optimisme. Berdasarkan hasil analisis yang dilakukan, maka diperoleh hasil bahwa terdapat hubungan positif antara dukungan orang tua dengan optimisme. Hal ini diketahui dengan melihat perhitungan didapatkan dukungan orang tua tergolong tinggi dengan nilai rata-rata empirik (80) lebih kecil dibanding nilai hipotetiknya (102,64). Sementara itu optimisme nilai rata-rata empiriknya (55) lebih kecil dibanding nilai hipotetiknya (70,25). Nilai koefisiennya yaitu 0,676 dengan signifikasi p = 0,000 < 0,05 dengan bobot sumbangan 45,7%. Artinya hipotesis terdapat hubungan signifikan antara dukungan orang tua dengan optimisme. Dinyatakan hipotesis diterima. This study aims to confirm the relation between parental support and optimism among psychology students working on their thesis at the University of Medan Area. This study uses quantitative research using the correlation methods, and the population of this study consists of all 2017 psychology students at the University of Medan Area. The samples for this research was 72 students. The sampling technique used was a simple random sampling technique. Data collection using the Likert scale, a parental support scale and an optimism scale. The data analysis technique uses the Product Moment Correlation technique. The hypothesis proposed in this research is that there is a positive relationship between parental support and optimism, with the assumption that the higher the parental support, the higher the optimism and vice versa, the lower the parental support, the lower the optimism. Based on the results of the analysis performed, the results obtained that there is a positive relationship between parental support and optimism. It is known from examining the calculation that parental support is classified as high with the empirical mean value (80) lower than the hypothetical value (102.64). Meanwhile, the empirical average value (55) is smaller than the hypothetical value (70.25). The coefficient value is 0.676 with a significance of p = 0.000 <0.05 with a contribution weight of 45.7%. This means that the hypothesis is that there is a significant relationship between parental support and optimism. It is stated that the hypothesis is accepted.
