Abstract: | Bio aditif adalah zat aditif yang berbahan tumbuhan yang dimanfaatkan sebagai aditif untuk meningkatkan kualitas bahan bakar. Minyak sereh wangi adalah salah satu jenis minyak atsiri yang telah dikaji potensinya sebagai bahan bio aditif bahan bakar dikarenakan bersifat mudah menguap dan larut ke dalam bahan bakar. Tujuan penggunaan Bioaditif ini untuk menaikkan performa mesin. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode eksperimen, beberapa sampel yang diuji terdiri bahan bakar biodiesel B50, kemudian pengembangan dilakukan dengan menambahkan unsur Bioaditif minyak sereh pada bahan bakar tersebut dengan rasio 1 : 1000 ml, 5 : 1000 ml, dan 10 : 1000 ml. Pengujian sampel tersebut dilakukan untuk mengukur performa mesin diesel dengan dynobreakedan pengukuran opasitas dengan menggunakan gas analyzer. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan penggunaan bioaditif sereh wangi mampu meningkatkan performa mesin diesel, daya maksimum meningkat sebesar 11% pada rasio 1 : 1000 ml, 25% pada rasio 5 : 1000 ml, 15% pada rasio 10 : 1000 ml. Torsi optimum dicapai sebesar 11% pada rasio 1 : 1000 ml, 25% pada rasio 5 : 1000 ml, 15% pada rasio 10 : 1000 ml. Selain pengujian tersebut, pengukuran konsumsi bahan bakar juga menghasilkan penghematan sebesar 9% pada rasio 1 : 1000 ml, 23% pada rasio 5 : 1000 ml, 10% pada rasio 10 : 1000 ml. Penurunan opasitas juga diperoleh 9 % pada rasio 1 : 1000 ml, 16% pada rasio 5 : 1000 ml, 10% pada rasio 10 : 1000 ml. Bio additives are additives made from plants that are used as additives to improve fuel quality. Citronella oil is one type of essential oil that has been studied for its potential as a fuel bio additive because it is volatile and soluble in fuel. The purpose of using this bio additive is to improve engine performance. This research was conducted using an experimental method, some of the samples tested consisted of B50 biodiesel fuel, then the development was carried out by adding citronella oil bio additives to the fuel with a ratio of 1: 1000 ml, 5: 1000 ml, and 10: 1000 ml. The sample test was conducted to measure the performance of a diesel engine with a dynobreak and measurement opacity using a gas analyzer. The results of this study indicate that the use of bio additives Serah Fragrant can improve the performance of diesel engines, the maximum power increases by 11% at a ratio of 1: 1000 ml, 25% at a ratio of 5: 1000 ml, 15% at a ratio of 10: 1000 ml. The optimum torque is achieved at 11% at a ratio of 1: 1000 ml, 25% at a ratio of 5: 1000 ml, 15% at a ratio of 10: 1000 ml. In addition to these tests, the measurement of fuel consumption also resulted in savings of 9% at a ratio of 1: 1000 ml, 23% at a ratio of 5: 1000 ml, 10% at a ratio of 10: 1000 ml. The decrease in opacity was also obtained by 9% at a ratio of 1: 1000 ml, 16% at a ratio of 5: 1000 ml, 10% at a ratio of 10: 1000 ml. |
