Abstract: Penelitiaan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan harga diri dan lokus kendali dengan motivasi berprestasi siswa berpretasi di bawah kemampuan ( underachiever ). Sebagai subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa berprestasi bi bawah kemampuan (underachiever) di SMK Negeri Kabupaten Asahan yang berjumlah 146 orang yang tersebar di 7 sekolah. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik total sampling. Metode pengambilan data dengan menggunakan test dan skala ukur, teknik analisa data dalam penelitian ini adalah analisa regresi dua prediktor. Hipotesa pene1itian ada1ah : Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kedua variabel yaitu harga diri dan lokus kendali dengan motivasi berprestasi siswa berprestasi bi bawah kemampuan (underachiever) . Artinya semakin tinggi harga diri dan lokus kendali maka semakin tinggi pula moti vasi berprestasi siswa berpredtasi bi bawah kemampuan (underachiever) , sebaliknya semakin rendah harga diri dan lokus kendali maka semakin rendah pula motivasi berprestasinya. Kesimpulan hasil penelitian ini adalah harga diri dan lokus kendali mempunyai hubungan yang positif dapat dilihat dari koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,956 dan terdapat kontribusi yang positif antara harga diri terhadap motivasi berprestasi pada siswa berprestasi bi bawah kemampuan (underachiever) di SMK Negeri Kabupaten Asahan dengan sumbangan sebesar 13,8 persen, sementara lokus kendali berpengaruh terhadap motivasi berprestasi sebesar 55 persen dan total sumbangan efektif dari kedua variabel bebas ( harga diri dan lokus kendali ) terhadap motivasi berprestasi sebesar 91,4 persen. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-esteem and locus of control with achievement motivation students achieve below ability (underachiever). As the subjects in this study were underachievers at Asahan District State Vocational School, totaling 146 people spread across 7 schools. Technique sampling using total sampling technique. Data collection method with using tests and measuring scales, the data analysis technique in this study is analysis two predictor regression. The research hypothesis is: There is a significant relationship between the two variables, namely self-esteem and locus of control with achievement motivation of outstanding students bi under the ability (underachiever) . This means that the higher self-esteem and locus of control then the higher the achievement motivation of students with under-ability predictions (underachiever), conversely the lower self-esteem and locus of control, the lower as well as achievement motivation. The conclusion of the results of this study is self-esteem and locus of control have a positive relationship can be seen from the correlation coefficient of 0.956 and there is a contribution positive relationship between self-esteem and achievement motivation in underachieving students ability (underachiever) at SMK Negeri Asahan Regency with a contribution of 13.8 percent, while the locus of control has an effect on achievement motivation of 55 percent and the total effective contribution of the two independent variables (self-esteem and locus of control) on achievement motivation of 91.4 percent.
