This research was conducted to find the correlation between student engagement and social loafing in psychology college students of Medan Area University during online learning system. The sample in this study was psychology college students class of 2018, and the total number are 80 persons. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using a Likert scale model two scales, namely the student engagement scale and the social loafing scale compiled by the researcher. The results of the research using the product moment correlation technique (𝑟𝑥𝑦) are known to be -0.716 with p = 0.000 < 0.05. This means that there is a significant negative relationship between student engagement and social loafing in students, which shows that the lower the student's engagement, the higher social loafing the carried out and the hypothesis in this research is accepted. Based on the results of data analysis, it is known that students' engagement is low with a hypothetical mean (96) > empirical mean (87,29) and the difference exceeds one SD (6,034), social loafing is high with a hypothetical mean (114) < mean empirically (121,30) and the difference exceeds one SD (5,771). Student engagement contributed 51.2% to social loafing. | en_US |
