Abstract: Film merupakan medium komunikasi terbarukan dan masif dalam menyebarluaskan informasi di era modern saat ini. Secara umum, film banyak memuat penggambaran terhadap isu dan fenomena di masyarakat. Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy (MSP) merupakan salah satu fenomena langka dan dikonstukruksikan melalui medium film dalam memberi gambaran kekerasan pada anak dari sudut pandang yang tidak biasa. Oleh karenanya, Penelitian ini membahas mengenai representasi fenomena MSP pada Series The Act episode 1- 8, untuk mengetahui penggambaran dari karakteristik MSP dan perilaku kekerasan yang terjadi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan penentuan informan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Adapun tahapan pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara dan studi literatur. Data di analisis menggunakan semiotika Ferdinand De Saussure serta tiga tahapan Miles dan Huberman dan pengujian keabsahan data menggunakan pendekatan triangulasi sumber. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peran Dee Dee pada film The Act memiliki karakteristik MSP diantaranya: 1) berbohong mengenai kesehatan anaknya, 2) memanipulasi hasil kesehatan, 3) memalsukan seluruh rekam medis, 4) memalsukan gejala-gejala yang terjadi, dan 5) mengeksploitasi anaknya dalam meraup simpati masyarakat. Gypsy selaku korban mengalami beragam kekerasan psikis dan kekerasan fisik akibat mengikuti prosedur medis yang tidak diperlukan serta mengonsumsi obat-obatan secara berlebihan. Hal tersebut juga secara inkremental mempengaruhi perilaku dan konsep diri Gypsy. The film is a renewable and massive communication medium for disseminating information in the modern era. In general, films contain many depictions of isus and phenomena in society. Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy (MSP) is a rare phenomenon that is constructed through the medium of a film to give a picture of child abuse from an uncommon perspective. Therefore, this study discusses the representation of the MSP phenomenon in Film The Act episodes 1– 8 to find out the characteristics of MSP and the violent behavior that occurs. This research used a qualitative descriptive method with informants using a purposive sampling technique. The stages of data collection are observation, interviews, and literature study. The data were analyzed using the semiotics of Ferdinand de Saussure and the three stages of Miles and Huberman, and data triangulation techniques were used to validate the data. The results showed that Dee Dee's role in The Act had MSP characteristics, including 1) lying about her child's health, 2) manipulating health results, 3) falsifying all medical records, 4) falsifying the symptoms that occurred, and 5) exploiting her child. Gypsy, as a victim, is subjected to psychological and physical violence. It also gradually affects Gypsy behavior and self-concept.
