Hubungan Peran Ayah Dengan Penyesuaian Diri Pada Mahasiswa Baru Fakultas Ilmu Sosial Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui secara empiris hubungan antara peran ayah dengan penyesuaian diri pada mahasiswa baru Fakultas Ilmu Sosial Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara. Penyesuaian diri suatu perilaku individu untuk mengatasi keadaan yang tidak menyenangkan terhadap dirinya sehingga individu tersebut dapat memperlihatkan sikap serta perilaku yang menyenangkan dan dapat diterima oleh kelompok maupun lingkungannya. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh mahasiswa baru stambuk 2022 program studi ilmu komunikasi fakultas ilmu sosial yang berjumlah 125 mahasiswa. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik total sampling yang berjumlah 125 responden. Metode pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan skala peran ayah dan skala penyesuaian diri. Teknik analisis data menggunakan korelasi pearson product moment. Hasil penelitian ditunjukkan dengan koefisien korelasi rxy = 0,478 dengan nilai signifikan 0,00 (P < 0,05), artinya ada hubungan positif yang signifikan antara peran ayah dengan penyesuaian diri pada mahasiswa baru Fakultas Ilmu Sosial Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara, dengan koefisien determinasi (𝑟2) sebesar 0.229 dengan sumbangsih sebesar 22,9%. Peran ayah tergolong sangat rendah karena (mean empirik = 74.715 < mean hipotetik = 82.5 dimana selisihnya melebihi bilangan SD = 6.937) dan penyesuaian diri juga tergolong sangat rendah karena (mean empirik = 55.344 < mean hipotetik = 72.5 dimana selisihnya melebihi bilangan SD = 5.927). Dengan demikian hipotesis yang diajukan dinyatakan diterima. This study aims to determine empirically the correlation between the role of fathers and adjustment in new students of the Faculty of Social Sciences, State Islamic University of North Sumatra. Adjustment of an individual's behavior to overcome unpleasant conditions for him so that the individual can show pleasant attitudes and behaviors that can be accepted by the group and their environment. This research method uses quantitative methods. The population in this study were all new students in 2022 in the communication sciences study program, the faculty of social sciences, totaling 125 students. The sampling technique used a total sampling technique, amounting to 125 respondents. The data collection method in this study used the father's role scale and adjustment scale. Data analysis technique using pearson product moment correlation. The results of the study are shown by the correlation coefficient rxy = 0.478 with a significant value of 0.00 (P <0.05), meaning that there is a significant positive relationship between the father's role and adjustment in new students of the Faculty of Social Sciences, State Islamic University of North Sumatra, with the coefficient of determination (𝑟2) of 0.229 with a contribution of 22.9%. The father's role is low because (empirical mean = 74,715 < hypothetical mean = 82.5 where the difference exceeds the SD number = 6,937) and self-adjustment is also low because (empirical mean = 55,344 < hypothetical mean = 72.5 where the difference exceeds SD number = 5,927). Thus the proposed hypothesis is declared accepted.
