Abstract: Penelitian mengenai modifikasi lingkungan tumbuh terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman stevia (Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni) di dataran rendah yang dilaksanakan di kebun Percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Medan Area, Jl. Kolam No 1 Medan Estate, Kecamatan Percut Se Tuan dengan Ketinggian 25 meter diatas permukaan laut (mdpl) mulai bulan November sampai dengan bulan Desember. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kemampuan pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman stevia (Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni) di dataran rendah. Penelitian ini delakukan dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok Faktorial yang terdiri dari dua Faktor yaitu Faktor I : Perlakuan Pemberian Naungan Paranet dengan persentase naungan adalah ; P0 = Tanpa Naungan Paranet, P1 = Naungan Paranet 50% dan P2 = Naungan Paranet 75%. Faktor II : Perlakuan Jenis Mulsa yang terdiri dari 3 taraf yang terdiri dari ; M0 = Mulsa Plastik Hitam Perak (MPHP), M1 = Mulsa Jerami Padi, dan M2 = Mulsa Ilalang. Parameter yang diamati pada penelitian ini adalah tinggi tanaman (cm), jumlah daun (helai), luas daun (cm²), umur berbungan (hari setelah tanam), bobot segar total (g) per plot dan bobot segar keseluruhan (g). hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pemeberian naungan paranet berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman (cm) dengan perlakuan terbaik yaitu P2 = yaitu pemberian naungan paranet 75%, berpengaruh nyata terhadap penambahan jumlah daun (helai) dengan perlakuan terbaik yaitu P2= yaitu pemberian naungan paranet 75%, berpengaruh nyata terhadap luas daun (cm²) dengan perlakuan terbaik yaitu P2 = yaitu pemberian naungan paranet 75%. Pemberian jenis mulsa berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman dengan perlakuan terbaik yaitu M2 = yaitu perlakuan mulsa ilalang, berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap penambahan jumlah daun (helai) dengan perlakuan terbaik yaitu M2 = yaitu perlakuan mulsa ilalang, berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap luas daun (cm²) dengan perlakuan terbaik M2 = yaitu perlakuan mulsa ilalang, berpengaruh nyata terhadap berat basah (g) per plot dengan perlakuan terbaik yaitu M2 = yaitu perlakuan mulsa ilalang. Interaksi perlakuan naungan paranet dan jenis mulsa berpengaruh nyata terhadap percepatan umur berbunga. Interaksi perlakuan pemberian naungan paranet dan jenis mulsa berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman (cm), jumlah daun (helai), luas daun (cm²), berat segar (g) per plot dan berat basah keseluruhan (g). Research on the modification of the growing environment to the growth of stevia plants (Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni) in the lowlands was carried out in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Medan Area University, Jl. Kolam No. 1 Medan Estate, Percut Se Tuan District with an altitude of 25 meters above sea level (masl) from November to December. The purpose of this study was to determine the growth and production ability of stevia (Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni) plants in the lowlands. This study was conducted using a Randomized Design of a Factorial Group consisting of two factors, namely Factor I: Paranet Shading Treatment with the percentage of shade is; P0 = No Paranet Shading, P1 = 50% Paranet Shading and P2 = 75% Paranet Shading. Factor II : Mulch Type Treatment consisting of 3 levels consisting of; M0 = Silver Black Plastic Mulch (MPHP), M1 = Rice Straw Mulch, and M2 = Weeds Mulch.The parameters observed in this study were plant height (cm), number of leaves (strands), leaf area (cm²), flowering age (day after planting), total fresh weight (g) per plot and overall fresh weight (g). The results of this study show that the provision of paranet shade has a very real effect on plant height (cm) with the best treatment, namely P2 = namely the provision of paranet shade 75%, a real effect on the addition of the number of leaves (strands) with the best treatment, namely P2 = namely the provision of paranet shade 75%, a noticeable effect on leaf area (cm²) with the best treatment, namely P2 = namely giving 75% paranet shade.The provision of the type of mulch has a very real effect on the height of plants with the best treatment, namely M2 = namely the treatment of thatch mulch, it has a very real effect on the addition of the number of leaves (strands) with the best treatment, namely M2 = namely the treatment of thatch mulch, it has a very noticeable effect on the leaf area (cm²) with the best treatment M2 = namely the treatment of thatch mulch, it has a noticeable effect on the wet weight (g) per plot with the best treatment, namely M2 = namely the treatment of thatch mulch. The interaction of paranet shading treatment and the type of mulch has a noticeable effect on the acceleration of flowering life. The interaction of paranet shade treatment and the type of mulch had an unreal effect on plant height (cm), number of leaves (strands), leaf area (cm²), fresh weight (g) per plot and overall wet weight (g).
