Abstract

Mesin Screw press adalah mesin yang mempunyai peranan penting dalam pabrik pengolahan kelapa sawit, mesin ini berfungsi sebagai alat pengepresan minyak kasar (crude oil) dari daging buah. Mesin screw press terdiri dari beberapa bagian yaitu terdiri dari motor penggerak, system hidrolik (hidrolik system), screw worm, bantalan (bearing), kopling gear box. Semua bagian - bagian tersebut sating berhubungan untuk mendapatkan minyak kasar. Secara umum pemakaian screw press pada proses pengempaan adalah untuk mendapatkan minyak dengan kwalitas yang baik dengan biaya yang rendah. Buah kelapa sawit adalah bahan pokok yang paling penting untuk menghasilkan minyak. Pada umumnya tanaman kelapa sawit yang tumbuh dengan baik dan subur dapat menghasilkan buah serta siap dipanen pertama pada usia tanam 3,5 tahun jika dihitung dari penanaman biji kecambah di pembibitan mulai dari penanaman dilahan maka tanaman berbuah dan siap panen pada usia 2,5 tahun.
