This research aims to determine whether there is a correlation between selfesteem and assertive behavior of class XI students at SMA Negeri 1 Parbuluan. The sample in this study were 63 class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Parbuluan who were obtained using stratified random sampling. The research instrument uses two scales, namely the self-esteem scale and the assertive behavior scale. This research method uses quantitative methods. The data analysis technique uses the Pearson's product moment correlation technique. The results showed that the correlation coefficient ( ) was 0,649 with a significance level of 0.000 (p < 0,05). This means that there is a significant positive relationship between selfesteem and assertive behavior. The coefficient of determinant ( ) of the relationship between the self-esteem variable and the assertive behavior variable is 0,421. This indicates that self-esteem contributes to assertive behavior by 42,1%. In other words, the proposed hypothesis is declared accepted. Based on a comparison between the Hypothetical Mean and the Empirical Mean, it was found that the Hypothetical Mean self-esteem (me = 93) was above the Empirical Mean (me = 76,047), so it can be concluded that the subjects of this study had selfesteem which was heading towards low. Then the Hypothetical Mean of assertive behavior (me = 72) is above the Empiric Mean (me = 55,634), so it can be concluded that the subjects of this study had low assertive behavior. |
