Catcalling is verbal and non-verbal harassment that is synonymous with sexist greetings and jokes. Regardless of place, catcalling occurs anywhere even at school. The purpose of this study is to determine student’s perceptions of catcalling, factors that trigger catcalling, and student’s reactions when experiencing catcalling. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach and uses george herbert mead's theory of symbolic interactionism. The researcher determined 7 (seven) informants with the snowball sampling. The results study showed two perceptions, students who view catcalling as verbal harassment and students who view catcalling as a joke, so they are vulnerable to becoming perpetrators or victims. Catcalling that occurs at school is caused by several factors, including; internal and external factors, teenage ignorance factors, and school uniform factors that violate the rules. | en_US |
