The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the non-physical work environment on work stress in employees of the North Sumatra Province Transportation Service Office. This research method is a quantitative method. The population of this study amounted to 80 employees and the sample used was 80 employees. In determining the sample, the technique used is the total sampling technique. The technique used for data collection is to use a scale, where this psychological scale is in the form of a questionnaire, namely the non-physical work environment scale with the work stress scale. Based on the results of the analysis using the simple regression analysis method, it is known that there is a significant influence between the non-physical work environment on work stress seen from the value of the coefficient of Determination (R2) = 0.297 with p = 0.003 <0.050, meaning that there is an influence of the non-physical work environment on work stress the better the non-physical work environment, the lower the work stress felt by the employees of the North Sumatra province transportation service office. In this study, the non-physical work environment at the North Sumatra provincial transportation office was classified as low/poor, based on the empirical average value obtained (60.21) which was smaller than the hypothetical average value (70). Furthermore, it is known that work stress on employees is high, this is based on the empirical average value obtained (80.84) which is greater than the hypothetical average value (65).
