This study aims to look at correlation between emotion regulation and mood swings in women who experience menstruation at the University of Medan Area. The scale used in this research is the emotion regulation scale and the mood change scale in women who are menstruating where the subjects in this study were female students of the University of Medan Area, Department of Psychology, totaling 97 women. The data analysis method used in this study is Pearson product moment correlation, so the following results are obtained: there is a significant correlation between emotion regulation and mood changes. These results are evidenced by the correlation coefficient rxy = 0.783; P = 0.00 <0.05, that the lower the female student's emotional regulation, the higher her mood changes and there is a contribution to emotion regulation of 61.3% and the remaining 38.7% can be influenced by other factors not seen in the study This. That female students have low emotional regulation with empirical mean = 96.66 > hypothetical mean = 75 where the difference between the two means exceeds the SD number = 10.839 and high mood swings with empirical mean = 178.62 > hypothetical mean = 137.5 where the second difference the mean exceeds 16.312. From the results of this study, the proposed hypothesis was declared accepted.
