Teenagers experiencing emotional instability often feel lonely when alone and rarely engage in social interactions. They tend to divert their need for social interaction to the Internet, including platforms like TikTok. The use of social media can lead to reduced social interactions with those around them, which correlates with an individual's level of loneliness. This study aims to empirically examine the differences in loneliness levels based on gender among early adolescents who use TikTok as a social media platform. The research employed a quantitative method, and the measurement tool used was the Loneliness Scale. The reliability score, Cronbach's Alpha, was found to be 0.745, indicating the scale's reliability and suitability for the study. The normality test result yielded p=0.158, indicating normal data distribution. The homogeneity test result was F=0.744, with a probability of 0.513 (P>0.05), confirming homogeneity. The T Test resulted in -2.975 with a significance level of 0.000 (p<0.05). The empirical mean was 83.72 with an SD of 7.7391. There was a significant difference in loneliness levels between female and male students. The obtained significance value was smaller than 0.05, thus accepting the hypothesis proposed in this study. Male adolescents had a mean value of 74.47 with an SD of 5.797, while female adolescents had a mean value of 82.97 with an SD of 9.681. Consequently, female adolescents showed higher levels of loneliness compared to male adolescents. | en_US |
