Abstract: Kota Medan merupakan salah satu kota besar yang sedang melakukan pembangun di segala bidang, menurut ketersediaan sarana dan transportasi yang baik. Melihat kondisi tersebut dan memperhatikan tingkat perkembangan kota dan pertumbuhan lalu lintas, diharapkan mampu melayani arus lalu lintas yang lewat. Namun kemacetan masih saja merupakan pemandangan yang wajib pada setiap harinya, terutama pada daerah ruas jalan Pertahanan. Ruas jalan Pertahanan merupakan salah satu daerah yang mejadi Kawasan Industri di kota Medan, Sumatera Utara. kawasan ini menjadi tempat keluar masuknya Truk Kontainer dari Pabrik yang ada di daerah itu. Untuk mengetahui bagaimana hambatan samping serta tingkat pelayanan jalan di ruas jalan Pertanahan Amplas Kota Medan diperlukan data primer yaitu data volume lalu lintas, data geometrik jalan, survei hambatan samping dan survei kecepatan sesaat. Sedangkan data sekunder yang diperlukan yaitu data jumlah penduduk di Kota Medan Amplas . Berdasarkan hasil analisis di peroleh kecepatan arus bebas pada ruas jalan Pertahanan Amplas senilai 33,3 km/jam, nilai kapasitas 2028,1 smp/jam, hambatan samping 650 kejadian/jam masuk dalam kategori hambatan samping sedang (M), serta tingkat pelayanan jalan masuk dalam kategori D yang artinya arus Mendekati tidak stabil dengan volume lalu lintas sedang dan kecepatan mulai dibatasi oleh kondisi lalu lintas, kepadatan rendah serta hambatan internal lalu lintas belum mempengaruhi kecepatan. The city of Medan is one of the big cities that is developing in all fields, based on the availability of good facilities and transportation. Seeing these conditions and paying attention to the level of city development and traffic growth, it is hoped that it will be able to serve the passing traffic flow. However, traffic jams are still an obligatory sight every day, especially on the Defense road. The Defense road section is one of the areas that has become an industrial area in the city of Medan, North Sumatra. This area is a place where container trucks come in and out from factories in that area. To find out what the side obstacles are and the level of road service on the Medan City Amplas Land road, primary data is needed, namely traffic volume data, road geometric data, side obstacle surveys and instantaneous speed surveys. Meanwhile, the secondary data required is data on the population of Medan Amplas City. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that the free flow speed on the Amplas Defense road was 33.3 km/hour, the capacity value was 2028.1 pcu/hour, the side obstacles were 650 events/hour in the medium side resistance category (M), and the level of road service is in category D, which means the flow is approaching unstable with moderate traffic volume and speed is starting to be limited by traffic conditions, low density and internal traffic obstacles have not affected speed.
