dc.description.abstract | Pada dasarnya generator membutuhkan tenaga output yang konstan. Tetapi bila ditinjau dari karakteristik pembebanan generator, dapat diketahui bahwa setiap terjadinya perubahan beban yang betvariasi akan mengakibatkan perubahan tegangan output generator tersebut. Untuk mengatur tegangan . output generator agar tetap konstan, maka dapat dilakukan dengan jalan mengatur arus medan generator. Pengaturan tegangan secara manual, biasanya digunakan pada generator yang berkapasitas kecil, tetapi untuk generator yang berkapasitas besar, pengaturan tegangan secara manual tidaklah mungkin dilakukan, untuk itu perlu suatu peralatan yang q,ekerja secara otomatis.
