This work proposes the design of the Batak Museum building in Medan, North Sumatra, using the architectural approach popularized by Robert Venturi. The aim of this research is to integrate traditional values and local wisdom of the Batak people into the architectural design of the museum, taking into account the principles of postmodernism promoted by Venturi. The study begins with a thorough analysis of the local historical, cultural and architectural context. Data collection methods include field surveys, interviews with stakeholders, and reviews of relevant literature. The results of this analysis will become the basis for design that takes into account Batak cultural heritage with an innovative approach. Robert Venturi`s architectural approach is achieved through an emphasis on strong visual elements, the use of iconic signs, and a combination of modern architectural forms and traditional elements. The aim of designing this museum is to create a space that not only functions as a repository for cultural heritage, but also as an interactive forum that encourages people's understanding and appreciation of Batak history and culture. | en_US |
