Abstract: | Mekanisme yang melibatkan roda gigi telah ada selama ribuan tahun dan masih sangat dibutuhkan hingga saat ini. Roda gigi adalah bagian dari mesin yang berputar yang berguna untuk mentransmisikan daya. Keausan terjadi apabila dua buah benda saling kontak dan saling bergesekan. Rig uji roda gigi adalah alat uji untuk menguji keausan roda gigi. Dengan alat ini keausan antara dua roda gigi dapat diketahui. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi keausan roda gigi melalui studi literatur, membuat spesimen roda gigi lurus bahan polimer, menguji keausan roda gigi serta menganalisis pengaruh putaran dan beban yang bervariasi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperiment. Dari pengujian tersebut didapatkan hasil bahwa putaran mesin dan pembebanan yang bervariasi memiliki pengaruh besar terhadap keausan roda gigi lurus bahan polimer, Hasil analisis pengaruh beban terhadap roda gigi adalah semakin besar beban yang diberikan maka semakin aus pula pada kedua roda gigi lurus bahan polimer. Hasil putaran 1430 pada beban akhir 3,2 N mengalami keausan mencapai 5% pada pengujian. Gears are rotating machine parts that are useful for transmitting power. Gears have teeth that contact other gears. Wear occurs when two objects touch and rub against each other. The gear testing machine is a test tool for testing gear wear. With this tool the wear between two gears can be determined. Gears experience wear due to friction between small particles and the applied load, resulting in rapid wear of the gears. Polymers are basic molecules consisting of a large number of simple molecular units arranged repeatedly. Polymers are defined as macromolecules built by the repetition of small and simple chemical units equivalent to monomers. The aim of this research is to determine the wear value of straight gears made of polymer. The method used in this research is a gear wear test using a motor in the Medan Area University laboratory. From these tests, the results showed that engine speed and loading had a very large influence on tooth wear. |
