Medan Area University is one of the private universities in North Sumatra which is involved in developing New Renewable Energy (EBT) technology. The reason is that carrying out education and daily activities requires energy or electrical power for activities. This is what initiated the University's efforts to develop the electricity system by developing a Smart Grid system in order to reduce the University's operational costs. However, the effort to realize it has its own challenges, such as the occurrence of harmonics in the current and voltage at UMA. The existence of these harmonics is due to equipment that uses non-linear loads. A harmonic filter is expected to be able to reduce the harmonic content in the load using a smart grid system which has current and voltage harmonic distortion in the 3rd order so that the negative effects due to the presence of harmonic content can be reduced. Therefore, a filter is needed that can suppress the impact of harmonics that occur so as to provide better power quality. This problem can be analyzed using Etap 19.0.1 software. If the level of harmonics in the smart grid system is high, it is necessary to design a harmonic filter to reduce the percentage of harmonics in the system. | en_US |
