Abstract: Dalarn perkembangannya kegiatan-kegiatan pengolahan kayu mengalami masalah yang cukup serius yaitu kekurangan bahan baku industri. Secara umum di Propinsi Sumatera Utara kekurangan bahan baku untuk mencukupi kebutuhan industri pengolahan kayu sudah berlangsung sejak tahun 1980 sampai sekarang. Kesulitan memperoleh bahan baku ini mengakibatkan beberapa industri tidak marnpu berproduksi, sehingga semakin banyak industri yang tidak aktif lagi terutama industri kayu gergajian. In its development, wood processing activities have experienced A serious problem is the shortage of industrial raw materials. In general at North Sumatra Province lacks raw materials to meet industrial needs Wood processing has been going on since 1980 until now. Difficulty Obtaining these raw materials has resulted in several industries becoming unprofitable production, so that more and more industries are no longer active, especially industrial sawn wood.
