Hubungan antara Body Shaming dengan Kepercayaan Diri pada Remaja Akhir di Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Medan Area

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara body shaming dengan kepercayaan diri pada remaja akhir di Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Medan Area. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Fakultas Psikologi sebanyak 1.330 mahasiswa dan jumlah sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 100 mahasiswa. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah dengan teknik Purposive sampling. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan model skala likert dengan dua skala, yaitu skala body shaming dan skala kepercayaan diri. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan analisis korelasi product moment, dapat diketahui bahwa terdapat hubungan negatif yang signifikan antara variabel body shaming dengan variabel kepercayaan diri. Hasil ini dibuktikan dengan koefisien korelasi rxy = -0,646 dengan Signifikan p= 0,000 < 0,05. Dari hasil tersebut diperoleh Koefisien determinan (r2) dari hubungan antara variabel bebas dan variabel terikat adalah r2= 0,417. Ini menunjukkan bahwa body shaming berdistribusi sebesar 41,7% terhadap kepercayaan diri. Berdasarkan hasil uji mean dapat disimpulkan bahwa body shaming tergolong tinggi dengan nilai mean hipotetik sebesar 62,5 dan mean empiriknya sebesar 69,24. Selanjutnya kepercayaan diri dapat disimpulkan memperoleh hasil rendah dengan nilai hipotetik sebesar 82,5 dan nilai empiriknya sebesar 75,56. Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa body shaming memiliki hubungan terhadap kepercayaan diri pada remaja akhir di Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Medan Area. This research aims to determine the correlation between body shaming and self-confidence in late adolescents at the Faculty of Psychology, Medan Area University. The population in this study was 1,330 students from the Faculty of Psychology and the total sample in this study was 100 students. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using a Likert scale model with two scales, namely the body shaming scale and the self-confidence scale. Based on the results of product moment correlation analysis calculations, it can be seen that there is a significant negative correlation between the body shaming variable and the self-confidence variable. This result is proven by the correlation coefficient rxy = -0.646 with significant p = 0.000 < 0.05. From these results, the determinant coefficient (r2) of the correlation between the independent variable and the dependent variable is r2= 0.417. This shows that body shaming has a distribution of 41.7% on self-confidence. Based on the results of the mean test, it can be concluded that body shaming is relatively high with a hypothetical mean value of 62.5 and an empirical mean of 69.24. Furthermore, self-confidence can be concluded to obtain low results with a hypothetical value of 82.5 and an empirical value of 75.56. From the results of this research, it can be concluded that body shaming has a correlation with self-confidence in late adolescents at the Faculty of Psychology, Medan Area University.
