dc.description.abstractPenelitian ini berlatar belakang masalah penggunaan media sosial yang memiliki dampak terhadap kepercayaan diri seseorang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat pengaruh media sosial TikTok terhadap Self Esteem dan seberapa besar pengaruh media sosial TikTok terhadap Self Esteem pada mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi Angkatan 2022 Universitas Medan Area. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah uses and effects, penelitian ini menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan kuesioner, dan dianalisis menggunakan analisis data tabel tunggal dan analisis data tabel silang, serta dilakukan juga uji hipotesis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan pada Media Sosial TikTok terhadap Self Esteem pada mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi Angkatan 2022 Universitas Medan Area. This research was based on the issue of social media usage, which had an impact on an individual’s self-esteem. The study aimed to determine whether TikTok social media influenced self-esteem and how much TikTok affected self-esteem among Communication Science students of the 2022 cohort at University of Medan Area. The method used in this research was quantitative. The theory applied in this study was the uses and effects theory, this research uses purposive sampling technique. Data collection was conducted through questionnaires, and the data were analyzed using single table analysis and cross-tablle analysis, followed by a hypothesis test. The results showed that TikTok social media had a significant effect on the self-esteem of Communication Science students of the 2022 cohort at University of Medan Area.en_US
