dc.description.abstractPenelitian ini mengevaluasi kinerja persimpangan bersinyal pada Bundaran Tugu Binjai, Medan, yang merupakan simpang krusial dalam sistem transportasi kota. Tujuan utama penelitian adalah menganalisis kapasitas, derajat kejenuhan, panjang antrian, dan tundaan, serta mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kinerja persimpangan dan merumuskan solusi peningkatan. Metode penelitian meliputi pengumpulan data lalu lintas selama tiga hari pada jam puncak (pagi, siang, dan sore) dengan fokus pada semua jenis kendaraan. Analisis dilakukan menggunakan metode Pedoman Kapasitas Jalan Indonesia (PKJI) 2023. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persimpangan berada dalam kondisi kurang optimal, dengan volume kendaraan tertinggi di Jalan Soekarno Hatta mencapai 3.549 smp/jam, kapasitas 1.417,5 smp/jam, derajat kejenuhan 2,50 smp/jam, panjang antrian 2.578,4 meter, dan tundaan lalu lintas 2.792,3 detik/smp. Faktor-faktor utama yang mempengaruhi kinerja meliputi volume lalu lintas tinggi, geometri persimpangan kurang optimal, pengaturan waktu siklus kurang efisien, dan perilaku pengguna jalan. Kesimpulannya, persimpangan memerlukan perbaikan signifikan. Alternatif solusi yang diusulkan mencakup optimalisasi waktu siklus, perbaikan geometri jalan, penerapan sistem ATCS, pembatasan akses kendaraan berat, dan peningkatan penegakan hukum. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi dasar bagi pemerintah Kota Medan dalam merumuskan kebijakan untuk meningkatkan sistem transportasi kota. This study evaluates the performance of the signalized intersection at the Tugu Binjai Roundabout, Medan, which is a crucial intersection in the city's transportation system. The main objectives of the study are to analyze capacity, saturation level, queue length, and delay, as well as to identify factors that affect intersection performance and formulate improvement solutions. The research method includes collecting traffic data for three days during peak hours (morning, afternoon, and evening) with a focus on all types of vehicles. The analysis was conducted using the 2023 Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI) method. The results of the study indicate that the intersection is in a less than optimal condition, with the highest vehicle volume on Jalan Soekarno Hatta reaching 3,549 pcu/hour, capacity 1,417.5 pcu/hour, saturation level 2.50 pcu/hour, queue length 2,578.4 meters, and traffic delay 2,792.3 seconds/pcu. The main factors that affect performance include high traffic volume, less than optimal intersection geometry, inefficient cycle time arrangement, and road user behavior. In conclusion, the intersection requires significant improvement. Proposed alternative solutions include cycle time optimization, road geometry improvement, ATCS system implementation, heavy vehicle access restrictions, and increased law enforcement. This study is expected to be a basis for the Medan City government in formulating policies to improve the city's transportation system.en_US
