Abstract: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji adakah perbedaan pada perilaku konsumtif ditinjau dari status sosial orangtua. Hipotesis yang diajukan di dalam penelitian ini adalah terdapat perbedaan perilaku konsumtif ditinjau dari status sosial orangtua pada mahasiswa Hukum Universitas Medan Area. Dengan asumsi bahwa status sosial menengah ke atas lebih konsumtif dibandingkan dengan status sosial ke bawah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif untuk mendapatkan data yang objektif dan terukur. Jumlah populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu sebanyak 120 orang dengan teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling. Sampel dalam penelitian di ambil melalui hasil screening yang berjumlah 56 orang mahasiswa perempuan dari stambuk 2021. Data dikumpulkan melalui skala perilaku konsumtif dan skala status sosial yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Metode analisis data menggunakan uji dependent t-test. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan antara perilaku konsumtif ditinjau dari status sosial orangtua dengan nilai koefisien T = 18,577 dan signifikansi 0,000 < 0,05 dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan antara perilaku konsumtif ditinjau dari status sosial orangtua dimana status sosial menengah lebih konsumtif dibandingkan dengan status sosial bawah, sehingga hipotesis diterima. This study aims to test whether there are differences in consumer behavior in terms of the social status of parents. The hypothesis proposed in this study is that there are differences in consumer behavior in terms of the social status of parents in Law students at the University of Medan Area. Assuming that the middle to upper social status is more consumptive than the lower social status. This study uses a quantitative method to obtain objective and measurable data. The population in this study was 120 people with the sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The sample in the study was taken through screening results totaling 56 female students from the 2021 batch. Data were collected through a consumer behavior scale and a social status scale that had been tested for validity and reliability. The data analysis method used the dependent t-test. The results of this study indicate a significant difference between consumer behavior in terms of the social status of parents with a coefficient value of T = 18.577 and a significance of 0.000 <0.05, thus it can be concluded that there is a difference between consumer behavior in terms of the social status of parents where middle social status is more consumerist than lower social status, so the hypothesis is accepted. |
