Abstract: Sejak akhir 2019, pandemi Covid-19 yang melanda dunia telah menjadi momen bersejarah bagi masyarakat global. Seorang jurnalis foto dari Indonesia, Fauzy Chaniago, berhasil mendokumentasikan gambar-gambar korban virus Covid-19 yang diterbitkan di situs berita ternama, The Guardian. Foto-foto tersebut menjadi headline di The Guardian pada Januari 2021. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap makna konotatif, denotatif, serta makna dari foto jurnalistik itu sendiri. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan paradigma konstruktivis dan pendekatan kualitatif, menggunakan sumber data dari buku, internet, dan wawancara langsung dengan fotografernya. Analisis foto dilakukan melalui metode semiotika Roland Barthes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tujuan publikasi foto-foto ini adalah untuk mengingatkan masyarakat akan bahaya Covid-19, dengan harapan agar mereka menanggapi pandemi ini secara serius dan mematuhi peraturan pemerintah. Sebab, virus ini sangat berbahaya bagi kita, keluarga, dan lingkungan sekitar. moment for global society. A photojournalist from Indonesia, Fauzy Chaniago, succeeded in documenting images of victims of the Covid-19 virus which were published on the wellknown news site, The Guardian. These photos made headlines in The Guardian in January 2021. This research aimed to reveal the connotative, denotative and meaning of journalistic photos themselves. This research was conducted with a constructivist paradigm and qualitative approach, using data sources from books, the internet, and direct interviews with the photographer. Photo analysis was carried out using Roland Barthes' semiotic method. The research results showed that the purpose of publishing these photos were to remind the public of the dangers of Covid-19, with the hope that they will take this pandemic seriously and comply with government regulations. Because this virus was very dangerous for us, our families and the surrounding environment.
