Abstract: | Rumput teki merupakan salah satu jenis tumbuhan yang digunakan sebagai obat tradisional, yang diketahui mengandung senyawa metabolit sekunder seperti alkaloid, sineol, pinen, siperon, rotunol, siperenon, serta flavonoid dan secara ilmiah telah dipercaya memiliki aktivitas antimikroba. Secara empiris tanaman ini digunakan sebagai obat antibakteri, antitumor, antikanker, dan antialergi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui daya hambat ekstrak rumput teki sebagai antibakteri terhadap Streptococcus mutans. Pada penelitian ini rumput teki di ekstraksi dengan cara maserasi menggunakan etanol 70%. Ekstrak rumput teki di uji terhadap Streptococcus mutans menggunakan metode kertas cakram. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan deskriptif kuantitatif berupa pola berpikir deduktif, logika positivistik, bertujuan menyusun ilmu nomotetik, menggunakan alat objektif dan baku, melibatkan kuantifikasi data, menganalisis data dengan hasil penelitian berupa generalisasi dan prediksi. Sebagai uji lanjutan dengan satu faktor yaitu variasi konsentrasi ekstrak rumput teki 10%, 40%, 70%, dan 100%, aquades sebagai control negative dan antibiotik chloramphenicol sebagai control positif. Cyperus rotundus is type of plant used as a tradisional medicine, known to contain secondary metabolite compounds such as alkaloids, cincole, pinene, cyperon, rotunol, siperenon, and flavonoids, which have been scientifically proven to have antimicrobial activity. Empirically, this plant is used as an antibacterial, antitumor, anticancer, and antiallergic remedy. The aim of this research was to determine the inhibitory power of teki grass extract as an antibacterial agent against Streptococcus mutans. In this research, teki grass was extracted using a 70% ethanol maceration method. The extract was tested against Streptococcus mutans using the disc diffusion method. The research used a quantitative descriptive approach with a deductive thinking pattern, positivistic logic, aimed at nomothetic science, using objective and standard instrumens, involving data quantification, and analyzing data to generate generalization and prediction.As a follow-up test, one factor was tested: varying concentrations of teki grass extract (10%, 40%, 70%, 100%), with aquadest as a negative control and chloramphenicol as a positive control. |
