This research aimed to screen and characterize lactic acid bacteria (LAB) isolates obtained from the digestive tract of broiler chickens (Gallus domesticus). The research was conducted through the isolation and identification of LAB using gram staining and biochemical testing methods. The isolation results showed eight LAB isolates (sp1–sp8), which macroscopically had varying colony shapes, mostly round with white color. Microscopic observations showed that all isolates were rod-shaped (bacilli) and gram-positive. Biochemical tests showed positive results for citrate fermentation, motility, and catalase in all isolates. Based on these results, the isolated LAB had the potential to be developed as probiotic candidates. |
