This study aims to analyze the role of village government in empowering purun craftsmen in Mekar Jaya Village, Wampu District, Langkat Regency. With abundant natural resource potential, purun craftsmen in this village contribute to the local economy. However, they face various challenges, such as limited skills, market access, and capital. Through a qualitative approach, this study explores various programs and initiatives carried out by the village government, including skills training, marketing counseling, and providing access to capital. The results of the study indicate that the active involvement of the village government is very influential in increasing the capacity of craftsmen, as well as strengthening the marketing network for purun products. It was found that synergy between the village government, non-governmental institutions, and the private sector also played an important role in expanding opportunities for craftsmen. The conclusion of this study confirms that the success of empowering purun craftsmen does not only depend on the initiative of the village government, but also on the active participation of the community and cross-sectoral collaboration. This study is expected to provide recommendations for the development of more effective policies in empowering the local economy in other villages.en_US
