This study aims to analyze the effect of variations in flue gas temperature and dry steam pressure in boilers in optimizing feedwater usage to minimize it through an optimization process. The Taguchi method is used as an optimization approach, while linear regression analysis is applied to see the relationship between variables. Data are taken from the boiler operational diary and analyzed quantitatively. The regression results show a model with an R² of 0.64, an Adjusted R² of 0.61, and a MAPE value of 2.08%, indicating very good accuracy. Based on Response Optimization, a prediction of minimum feedwater usage of 295268 m3 is obtained, while the Taguchi method produces an optimal combination of dry steam pressure of 19.5 kg/cm² and flue gas temperature of 279°C with the most stable prediction result of 293894 m3. The small difference between the two results is still within reasonable lim its and is considered very small. The optimization results also show a decrease in feedwater usage in some actual data, although some actual values are still slightly lower (range 282654.4 m3 – 326466.2 m3). Overall, the regression and Taguchi methods produce consistent and mutually reinforcing results, so that the combination of these parameters can be used as the best operating conditions to achieve the minimum use of feed water in the boiler system.
