Abstract: Hasil analisis hipotesis dalam penelitian ini mengindikasikan adanya hubungan negatif yang signifikan antara kemampuan self-control dengan perilaku konsumtif pada mahasiswa Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Medan Area yang menggunakan Shopee PayLater. Koefisien korelasi yang diperoleh dilihat melalui nilai rxy = -0.623 dengan nilai signifikansi p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), yang menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi tingkat self-control mahasiswa, maka semakin rendah kecenderungan mereka untuk berperilaku konsumtif. Sebaliknya, mahasiswa dengan tingkat self-control yang rendah cenderung memiliki perilaku konsumtif yang lebih tinggi. Dengan demikian, hipotesis yang diajukan dalam penelitian ini dapat diterima. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa self-control memainkan peran penting dalam mengendalikan dorongan konsumsi yang tidak rasional. The results of the hypothesis analysis in this study indicate a significant negative relationship between self-control and consumer behavior among students from the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Medan Area who use Shopee PayLater. The correlation coefficient obtained is shown through an rxy value of -0.623 with a significance value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating that the higher the students' self-control level, the lower their tendency to engage in consumer behavior. Conversely, students with low self-control levels tend to have higher consumer behavior. Therefore, the hypothesis proposed in this study is accepted. These findings confirm that self-control plays a crucial role in controlling irrational consumer impulses.
