This study aims to see whether the work environment can affect work stress on traders at Horas Jaya Market, Pematangsiantar City after the Fire in Building IV. In this study there was a population of 928 traders and a sample of 91, the sampling technique used was Incidental sampling. The method used was quantitative using validity tests, reliability tests, normality assumption tests, linearity assumption tests, and simple linear regression analysis tests using SPSS 21.0. The results of the study showed that the contribution of the work environment to work stress was 43.08%. and vice versa, it was influenced by other factors, with a t coefficient of -3.661 and a p value of 0.000 meaning p <0.05, so the hypothesis in this study was accepted, in the sense that there was a negative influence of the work environment on work stress, it can be concluded that the worse the work environment, the higher the work stress on traders and vice versa.
